Scheduling Your Drug Screening is Easy!

Read and follow our step-by-step instructions to learn how to pay for, find an approved lab, and complete your WV Invests drug screening, by clicking the Download Drug Screening Instructions button.

Approved Screening Facilities

To reduce your out-of-pocket cost, we have contracted with a drug-screening provider with approved locations across the state. We will only accept screening results from our approved provider.

All drug screenings must be administered at a WV Invests-approved facility. To view all approved facilities, log in to you Participate in Program account.

Approval of drug screening facilities can change. Before you take a drug screen, review the approved locations again. Drug screens conducted outside the approved testing facilities will not be accepted.

Drug Screening Requirements

To be eligible for participation in the WV Invests Grant Program, you must pay for and take an approved drug screening within 60 days prior to the beginning of the first term in which you are eligible for the academic year (summer, fall, spring) and enroll at least part time. As required by state code, the applicant is responsible for the actual cost of the drug screening. The drug screening must be administered at an approved location and will test for the substances listed in the table below.

All parts of the drug screening analysis must be “negative” to produce a negative result. A positive result will be reported when the concentration of a controlled substance exceeds the levels identified on the table. If your initial drug screening shows a cutoff concentration at or above the cutoff level identified below (a positive result), a confirmation screening will be conducted.

Effective July 1, 2021, if you test positive for any of the below-named controlled substances, you will be eligible to receive funds from the WV Invests Grant Program one time for the semester for which you took the drug screen prior to, were eligible and enrolled. You will be required to pay for and pass another drug screen within 60 days prior to the beginning of the next term in which you are eligible to continue receiving the award. If you fail the subsequent test, you will be required to complete a drug rehabilitation program as prescribed by the Vice Chancellor for Administration before you may receive funds for that term.

If you are taking a legally prescribed medication that could alter the results of the drug screening, documentation will be requested of you after the urinalysis specimen is collected and being tested by the approved medical provide. The approved medical provider will adjust the analysis of the test results based upon the prescription information you provide.
